Nepal is a very beautiful and scenic country with complete flat lands in the lowlands and with eight highest mountains above 8,000 meters out of ten highest mountains of the world located in the mountainous region of Nepal. The population is 30.5 million and average income for a Nepali is USD 2 per day. The living standard is very poor and the medical, health and educational infrastructure are outdated.
Nepal was just transitioning to a post conflict phase after the cease of ten years of so called People’s War of Nepal which lasted from 1996 to 2006 resulting in deaths of 15,000 people.
The director for Phoenix Voyage Nepal, himself is also an unfortunate victim of the Civil War and displacing 150,000 to 200,000 people internally, it was just struck by one of the largest earthquake of 7.9 magnitude in 80 years in the history of Nepal. This devastation has killed more than 8,000 people and left 19,000 people injured.
With the new unfortunate scenario in front of us in Nepal, there are many fields to be dealt with in order to heal the awe state of her. Phoenix Voyage and the partners in Nepal will be participating in action-based initiatives.
